Gophers guard Bobby Jackson and Northwestern’s Evan Eschmeyer were on Monday named co-Big Ten men’s basketball players of the week.
Jackson, a senior from Salisbury, N.C., averaged 16.5 points and six rebounds as Minnesota (24-2 overall, 13-1 in the Big Ten) won its games last week against Ohio State and Illinois and clinched at least a share of the Big Ten title.
This is the second time this season that Jackson was honored by the conference; the first came on Jan. 13 after the Gophers beat Indiana and Michigan.
Eschmeyer, a senior center from New Knoxville, Ohio, averaged 22.5 points and 13.5 rebounds and blocked six shots as Northwestern split two games last week. He grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in a victory over Michigan State and scored 23 of the Wildcats’ 49 points in a loss to Indiana.
