The Gophers women’s gymnastics team, on the heels of a strong win Saturday over Alabama, is ranked No. 4 in the nation in a poll released Wednesday.
The ranking, which was compiled by national gymnastics coaches, is based on total team scores. Minnesota recorded a score of 192.925 in its win against Alabama, placing the team about 0.5 points behind third-ranked Penn State.
The No. 4 ranking makes the women’s gymnastics team the highest-rated squad in the history of Gophers women’s athletics, eclipsing the No. 5 ranking achieved by the women’s hockey team earlier this season.
Minnesota hosts No. 6 Michigan at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Sports Pavilion.
