IT-Ready, a program that gives adults free training in IT, is bringing its tech teaching to Minneapolis for the third year.
The program is designed to provide participants with entry-level experience in the IT field. At the end of the eight-week program, graduates are qualified for a six-month apprenticeship with local companies, which IT-Ready helps facilitate.
“We want to take unemployed or underemployed people and move them into an entirely new industry, where the earnings may be better,” said Charles Eaton, It-Ready’s CEO. “If you’re out of work you don’t have a year to learn.”
Though the program is mainly directed toward people who don’t have a degree, Eaton said people who have been enrolled in universities but are struggling with money may benefit from IT-Ready.
Applications for the spring Minneapolis class beginning Feb. 9 will be accepted until Jan. 21.
