Thursday Music âÄî Vampire Hands, Daughters of the Sun, Brute Hear, Tips for Twat Hexagon Bar 2600 27th Ave. S. 9 p.m. Free Vampire Hands’ newest album âÄúHannah in the MansionâÄù is a melodious blend of rock and the ether, reminiscent of a psychedelic Fleet Foxes. With vocalist-drummer-keyboardist Colin Johnson gone for Montana, the rest of Vampire Hands are continuing as a trio. Come check out their new sound. Comedy âÄî Maria Bamford Acme Comedy Company 708 1st St. N. 8 p.m. $15-$30 This personality-shifting comedian has had multiple Comedy Central features and even a stint or two on âÄúTim and Eric.âÄù Her well-done imitations are bitingly funny. Parents, former roommates and celebrities (she does a perfect Alicia Keys) are all fodder for her comedic cannon. Friday Music âÄî R. Kelly Epic 110 N. 5th St. 10 p.m. $35 Self-described “King of R&B” R. Kelly busts out of the closet and on to the main stage. His overly catchy melodies and on/off stage antics have created a rabid fan base, ready to devour anything he has to offer. His last release, âÄúThe Demo TapeâÄù is sexually over-the-top but fun and intriguing. Film âÄî âÄúThe RoomâÄù Uptown Theatre 2906 Hennepin Ave. 11:45 p.m. $9 Poised to take the throne as the heir to âÄúThe Rocky Horror Picture Show,” âÄúThe RoomâÄù is a piece of fantastic film drivel that is so indulgent and cringe-worthy that its fan base is predictably extreme. Saturday Theater âÄî“Avenue Q” Orpheum Theatre 910 Hennepin Ave. 2 p.m, 8 p.m. $28-68 âÄúAvenue QâÄù is not âÄúSesame Street.âÄù Just because there are puppets involved doesnâÄôt mean itâÄôs wholesome, or willing to teach you the letters of the alphabet. Think Bert and Ernie-esque stuffed folks singing about racism and sexinâÄô instead. Fashion âÄîLocal Artist T-shirt Mart Walker Art Center Cargill Lounge 750 Hennepin Ave. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free ItâÄôs MNFashion Week, which means that all over the cities local creatives will be displaying and shilling their work for the sartorially curious. Looking for a few new tees to add to your collection? The roster of participating designers at this sale include Mike Davis of Burlesque and Sara Linter of Too Many Suitors. Give those plain white tees a rest and wear your MSP pride on your shirt, literally. Culture to Consume Drink This: The team behind NortheastâÄôs Ginger Hop brings âÄúurban loungeâÄù to the neighborhood with their Wednesday-Saturday faux-club Honey, a dimly-lit schwank spot where the cocktails are inventive. We liked the Spring, $8, a mix of St. Germain elderflower liqueur and Prosecco. Eat This: Target Field is finally open and though there are no Dome Dogs in sight (R.I.P.), the cuisine is more upscale and promises to fill the void left by those timeless $5 hot dogs. Options include sandwiches from Polish deli Kramarczuk , stir fry and several Jucy Lucy-style burgers. For dessert? No worries, thereâÄôs sorbet and gelato. Listen to This: Hey, frat boys who blasted MGMTâÄôs âÄúElectric FeelâÄù and ruined it for the rest of us, youâÄôre probably not going to find any anthems on their latest album âÄúCongratulations.âÄù We here at A&E have mixed feelings about it but give it a spin and let us know what you think. Also out this week: albums from Dosh and Murs. Watch This: Christina Ricci spends most of upcoming thriller âÄúAfter.Life” as a semi-corpse on a funeral directorâÄôs table. Liam Neeson is in charge of embalming her body after a car accident, but the twist is that RicciâÄôs character Anna isnâÄôt sure sheâÄôs actually dead. Read This: Why not read the biography of one of the most riveting figures of the last century: Oprah Winfrey? Her (unathorized) biography by Kitty Kelley came out this week. Maybe there will be prizes inside. Click This: Everyone and their dad has a Facebook fan page.
