Kelly Kremer named head of swimming and diving program

University of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi has announced that former women’s co-head coach Kelly Kremer has been promoted the position of head coach of the Minnesota swimming and diving program.

Kremer, who has coached both men’s and women’s swimming in his 13-year tenure with the Gophers, will assume his new duties immediately.

“I’m very excited about the direction that this decision will take our Minnesota swimming and diving program,” Kremer said in a release.  Ultimately, this will give our program a common focus and I truly believe this is best for our student-athletes and their swimming or diving experience here at Minnesota.”

Despite the change at the top, no big changes will be made to the current Minnesota coaching staff. Long-time men’s head coach Dennis Dale will retain his position, former women’s co-head coach Terry Nieszner will take over duties as the lone head coach, and Wenbo Chan will oversee both diving teams.
