Giving is a wonderful thing, especially when it can benefit an entire state that has a $5 billion deficit.
Last week, Minnesota health insurance company UCare cut a $30 million check in an effort to close the projected shortfall. The donation makes up less than one percent of $5 billion, but every bit helps.
Governor Mark Dayton happily accepted the donation and called on other businesses do that same. Not a bad idea. Finding revenue should be on every lawmaker’s mind and finding out of the ordinary sources like UCare could help tremendously.
So, if any big wig is reading this, higher education could really use a hand. You can make checks out directly to the Minnesota State General Fund.
