Transit union will not strike Tuesday

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005 announced Friday it will not strike Tuesday because it wants to provide transportation to the Minnesota political party caucuses.

Today marks the last day of the 10-day cooling-off period. The union has 20 days to strike until the process starts over. The union has set no strike date.

Also today, the union and Metropolitan Council have their last mandated meeting with a state mediator. The issues at the core of the disagreement include health care and wages.

The union and Met Council Chairman Peter Bell have said they will not change their stances.
