Former Gophers football player Dominic Jones back in court

Former Gophers football player Dominic Jones is back in court today for another hearing in his third-degree criminal sexual conduct case, stemming from an incident last April.

District Judge Marilyn Rosenbaum will rule on a request by Jones’ attorney, Earl Gray, to suppress an interview between his attorney and police on April 24, 2007, the Star Tribune reported.

Jones spoke with police for about 30 minutes in that interview and didn’t “say anything,” Gray said, according to the Star Tribune, but did ask for a lawyer four times before the interview ended.

In a hearing earlier this month, Gray said he didn’t want a jury to see his client’s refusal to answer questions and said the interview should have ended when Jones’ requested an attorney, reported the Star Tribune.

The case is scheduled to go to trial on March 31.
