It was announced Monday that Gophers’ soccer freshman Becca Roberts was awarded Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors.

Roberts, a Lino Lakes, Minn., native, tallied her second goal of the season in the 69th minute of Saturday’s game at Iowa. The goal was the game winner in Minnesota’s 2-1 comeback victory against the Hawkeyes. 

Wisconsin’s Cara Walls shares this week’s honors with Roberts. This is the second time this season that a Gophers’ player has been named Freshman of the Week, the other being Taylor Uhl on Aug. 22. 

Minnesota (5-7-2, 2-2-2 Big Ten) will take on Illinois and Northwestern this weekend in its final road trip of the season.
