Minnesota football coach Tim Brewster gave little explanation as to what junior wide receiver Troy Stoudermire did to be indefinitely suspended for âÄúconduct detrimental to the team, saying only, âÄúWeâÄôll work with him.âÄù
As it turns out, Brewster may be working to keep Stoudermire at Minnesota.
In a status posted Wednesday afternoon on Facebook, Stoudermire wrote that he is “no longer a gopher ready to take my talent to a top d-1 school where I will be appreciated and respected as a player!”
Stoudermire was not at practice Wednesday, according to multiple sources. Kyle Theret and Dominic Alford did not miss practice when they were indefinitely suspended earlier this season, according to team spokesman Andy Seeley. Nothing official has happened further than Stoudermire being suspended indefinitely.
Through the first three games, Stoudermire posted six receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown. Stoudermire had 10 total catches in the first three games of 2009 and has seen a decrease in targets due to the success of backup quarterback MarQueis Gray at wide receiver.
Stoudermire is also a talented return man and is on pace to break the Big Ten record for kick-return yardage. With 2,396 yards, heâÄôs just 179 yards short of the record held by former Michigan State star Derrick Mason.
Sophomore Bryant Allen will replace Stoudermire as a receiver and kick returner in SaturdayâÄôs game against Northern Illinois.

If Stoudermire transfers to another Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) program, he would have to sit out the 2011 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
