Rachel Banham is only a sophomore, but she's well on her way to becoming one of the most decorated athletes in Gophers history.
Banham was voted Monday to the All-Big Ten First Team by the league's coaches and to the second team by the media. She leads the conference in scoring with 21.0 points per game and is the top-scoring sophomore in the nation.
She has scored 20 or more points 15 times and 30 or more points five times this season.
Banham is the seventh player in program history to be named to the conference's first team and the first since 2008. She was voted to the second team and named Big Ten Freshman of the Year for 2011-12.
Junior forward-center Micaëlla Riché, who was named the conference player of the week Monday, was an All-Big Ten honorable mention. She averaged 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in the regular season. Riché is the Gophers’ second-leading scorer and leading rebounder this season.
Freshman guard Shayne Mullaney earned a spot on the conference's all-freshman team. She has started 23 games for Minnesota and averaged 6.9 points and 3.0 assists.
