For the second straight year, a University of Florida report ranked the University as one of the top three public research schools in the country.
Called “The Top American Research Universities,” the study gave only two other public schools, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, higher rankings than Minnesota. All three scored above several prestigious private schools like Yale and Princeton.
TheCenter, a University of Florida think tank, determined the top schools based on nine different categories, including federal research, endowment assets, faculty awards and median SAT scores. The final score is based on the number of times and how high the universities rank in the top 25 of each category.
