Ongoing violence around campus reminds me of measures my fellow fraternity brothers at the now-defunct Beta Sigma Psi took in 1980. Although the name was lame, we put an ad in The Minnesota Daily with our phone number that simply said âÄúWimp Protectors, call the wimp line.âÄù The phone started ringing and we ended up coming to the aid of all sorts of people, doing escorting, pushing cars out of snow banks and other things. One guy even got a date with someone named Shirley Wimp, who had called in out of curiosity. We came up with a slogan defining what WIMP stood for: âÄúWhat is my problem?âÄù WeâÄôll gladly pass our legacy program off. Student Activities Office? Greeks? Jim Finnegan University alumnus
