CBS Sports and the Big Ten Conference have agreed on a multi-year deal to extend the network’s rights to air the conference’s basketball games through the 2016-2017 season.
The agreement was announced Thursday by Mike Aresco, Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Sports and Jim Delany, Big Ten Commissioner.
“The Big Ten Conference is happy to announce an extension to our CBS Sports agreement,” Delany said. “CBS has been a great partner and has provided outstanding exposure for the Big Ten since 1991, giving our coaches and student-athletes opportunities to compete on the national stage. We love having CBS Sports involved in our regular-season and tournament coverage with our championship game leading into the NCAA Selection Show.”
The agreement will be in effect for the 2011-2012 season, and will require CBS to air a minimum 24 appearances by Big Ten teams.
In addition to the Big 10, CBS is also the network for the Big East, SEC, and Pac-10.
