Gophers softball head coach Jamie Trachsel is leaving the program to become the next head coach at Ole Miss, according to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson.
Trachsel spent three seasons as the head coach of the Gophers, leading the team to a 102-40-1 record in that time. She notably led Minnesota to its first ever appearance in the Women’s College World Series in 2019. Prior to her tenure at Minnesota, Trachsel was the head coach at North Dakota State and Iowa State.
Trachsel will replace interim Ole Miss head coach Ruben Felix. Ole Miss was 12-13 before the softball season was cancelled amid the coronavirus pandemic.
News of Trachsel’s departure comes as three more Gophers seniors announced their intention to return for the 2020 season. Four of six Gophers’ seniors have committed to returning in 2020.
The Gophers were 15-9-1 when the season was canceled and in the middle of a series in Hawaii.
