On Saturday evening, April 25, the Invisible Children are hosting a âÄúRescueâÄù event at the Capitol in St. Paul. The Rescue is one of hundreds of protests taking place across 10 countries. The rally will speak for millions of children in Uganda who were forced to fight as soldiers, according to a news release from Emma Quarnstrom, media coordinator for Invisible Children, a nonprofit group trying to publicize the blight of child soldiers in Uganda. In the past 23 years, the Ugandan government and LordâÄôs Resistance Army has been in a fight that left millions of civilians displaced from their homes, according to the release. Thousands of people are expected to participate in tomorrowâÄôs event, which will include rallies across the globe. The rally will speak on behalf of the children who were abducted by the LRA. It will ask the government and international bodies to rescue the child solders. According to the groupâÄôs release, the rally goers will remain at the Capitol until a âÄúperson of great influence or cultural significanceâÄù makes a speech decrying the use of child soldiers. The Invisible Children have previously held many events which initiated peace talks between the LRA and the Ugandan government.
