A University of Minnesota graduate instructor was charged with indecent exposure last week.
Philosophy Department doctoral candidate Patrick Laine was arrested Thursday after he allegedly flashed two University of St. Thomas students on Jan. 20, said St. Paul Police Department Sergeant Mike Ernster.
Laine allegedly drove near St. Thomas at about 1:40 p.m. before approaching two separate students, Ernster said. He allegedly drove up to each woman individually and engaged them in small talk, said Ernster.
Though there was no touching involved, the women said that when they looked over at Laine, he was exposing himself, Ernster said.
Laine was booked, charged with a misdemeanor and released on Thursday, said Ernster.
No formal charges had been filed as of Monday, said Paul Engh, Laine’s attorney.
“Mr. Laine has never been in trouble before,” Engh said. “We look forward to his defense.”
