The University of Minnesota and the United States Golf Association announced a partnership to study golf’s future challenges, Golf Course Industry reports.
The partnership is set to last for five years, Twin Cities Pioneer Press said. It will be an interdisciplinary approach to research on golf and will include colleges like the College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, reports the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
USGA has enrolled the help of the University in order to make the game more fun and loess expensive, Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports.
“Participation and growth are central issues for the health of our game, but there are many other critical and complex factors that will contribute to its long-term sustainability,” said Mike Davis, USGA executive director, reports Discover UMN.
Brian Horgan,who is leading the experiment and a professor in the University’s Department of Horticultural Science, said it is important that golf remain relevant to its customer base in this time of societal change, reports Discover UMN.
