Elmo clutched his lucky rabbit’s foot in one hand, and a half-empty box of Fig Newtons in the other. Running for office in Cloud District 9wasn’t like the old days, especially for Elmo. He could feel the public’s distaste for him as he watched the results: Cumulus led Cirrus by a handful of votes. The Grassroots candidate, Elmo, didn’t have a single vote. Elmo’s thoughts drifted to today’s weather, which will be rainy with highs in the 50s. Maybe it’ll be cloudy tomorrow and drop to the 40s. “Perhaps switching parties wasn’t such a good idea,” he thought. He glanced at the good republican coat in this closet and shuddered.
