The Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs has selected a new Harold E. Stassen Chair in International Relations.
Michael Barnett will work as a full professor for the Humphrey Institute and as an adjunct professor in political science for the College of Liberal Arts.
Barnett received his doctorate in political science from the University in 1989. He is currently a professor and program director of international studies in the political science department at the University of Wisconsin’s Madison campus.
He is an expert on United Nations involvement in conflicts and the relationships between Middle Eastern states, said Julie Lund, the communications director for the Humphrey Institute.
The Humphrey Institute is excited to have Barnett, Lund said.
“Barnett more than doubles what we can offer students in the community in expertise in IR,” she said.
