On Tuesday it was announced the University of Minnesota is one of five universities to receive the 2009 Sen. Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization. The award is given by NAFSA: Association of International Educators. Boston University, Connecticut College, Pacific Lutheran University and Portland State University also received this yearâĂ„Ă´s award. The universities will be featured in the NAFSA report, âĂ„ĂşInternationalizing the Campus 2009: Profiles of Success at Colleges and Universities,âĂ„Ăą which will be published this fall. The award is named after the late Sen. Paul Simon, D-Ill., and recognizes outstanding and innovative efforts in campus internationalization. The five universities will also be recognized at the Annual International Plenary and Luncheon at NAFSAâĂ„Ă´s annual conference on May 29 in Los Angeles. NAFSAâĂ„Ă´s report will recognize leaders in higher education that better prepare students for a global economy in an interconnected world.
