Gophers women’s distance runner Gabe Anderson, coming off of a second place finish at the NCAA championships two weeks ago, advanced to the finals of the USA Championships in the 1,500-meter run. NBC will televise the race live at 3:36 p.m. on Saturday from Des Moines, Iowa.

Anderson qualified with a near career-best, finishing in 4 minutes, 13.47 seconds, just two-hundreths of a second shy of the Gophers record she set at the NCAA preliminaries this year. It is the last collegiate race of Anderson’s six-year career, which was lengthened by her well-publicized bout with cancer last spring.

The only runner from the men’s team competing at the championships, Ben Blankenship, runs his preliminary 1,500-meter race tonight at 6:25 p.m.
