Target Corp. laid off 150 corporate employees on Wednesday from positions of overlap or duplication in the company.
Target spokeswoman Amy Reilly said the eliminations occurred "as part of a number of team changes that were announced that also include a shifting in roles and responsibilities."
Target employs more than 360,000 people worldwide and has 1,796 stores in the United States. The layoffs were across coroporate headquarters, but Reilly could not comment further on departments or locations.
“This is really about how we’re evolving our business to remain competitive and be focused on the right things that will help us meet our goals of being a digitally savvy retailer into the future," Reilly said.
