Two University of Minnesota students were robbed early Monday morning in Dinkytown, according to a crime alert sent to students, staff members and faculty members Tuesday.
Minneapolis police responded at about 1:30 a.m. to a report from the two students, who said the suspect approached them and made plans with them to get something to eat, according to the crime alert.
The suspect led the victims into an alley between 1413 Fourth St. SE and 1411 Fourth St. SE, saying he needed something from his car, according to the alert. He returned with a handgun and demanded the students’ valuables. The two students gave the suspect their valuables, and neither was injured.
The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the crime.
