Minnesota football center Greg Eslinger was named a 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American as a second-team selection Wednesday.
The distinction marks the second year in a row a Gophers player has been named to the team. Safety Justin Isom was named to the second team last year.
Eslinger anchored a line that helped Minnesota rank first in the Big Ten and fifth nationally in rushing with 225 yards per game.
He has also been named first-team All-Big Ten by the media and coaches.
