Now students can catch the weekendâÄôs Big Ten football highlights in class Monday morning. The Big Ten conference recently announced a new video application that allows people to watch highlights from past weeks on their iPhones . The application is powered by the Big TenâÄôs content licensing partner, Thought Equity Motion , and is free through iTunes. Thought Equity Motion spokesman Erik Swift said itâÄôs also a great way for alumni to stay connected. âÄúSometimes alumni lose touch from where they came from and this gives them a chance keep up,âÄù Swift said. New media emerging with sports makes for a unique experience, he said. âÄúItâÄôs all about expanding horizons when tapping into that base of fans,âÄù Swift said. âÄúI think it brings everyone a little closer.âÄù Finance senior Alix Tucker said she probably wonâÄôt download it because she already has the ESPN application. Despite alternative outlets for sports content, the Big Ten application could be widely accepted by college students, Tucker said. Thought Equity Motion CEO Kevin Schaff said their relationship with the Big Ten allows them to manage some of the most exciting college sports footage. Highlight clips are about three minutes long. âÄúMarrying content with technology, then making it accessible, is our sweet spot,âÄù Schaff said. Thought Equity MotionâÄôs contract with the Big Ten is not public. Big Ten Commissioner James E. Delaney said the application is fast and easy to use. âÄúThought Equity Motion is our exclusive content licensing agent and we look to them to provide these kinds of innovative ideas,âÄù Delaney said. The Big Ten has been formally working with Thought Equity Motion for the last few months, Swift said, and the company hopes to work more with other conferences.
