A man was seen in Minneapolis City Hall today around 1 p.m. with a gun according to a credible witness, Sgt. William Palmer said at a press conference. The building was put on lockdown and swept, and Palmer said police are “confident” the man is no longer in the building. The lockdown lasted about 30 minutes and the building was re-opened shortly before 2 p.m. The witness told police they saw the man pull a gun from a potted plant on the first floor of the building and walk away with it. Police are describing the suspect as an adult male. Palmer said they do not know his intention at this time or who the man was. No one was hurt during the incident. Police said no clear surveillance video of the suspect has been discovered yet. “We sure would like to talk to this man and get an explanation from him as to what he was doing,” Palmer said. About 30 officers responded to the call in City Hall, where the Minneapolis Police Department is located. Palmer said there was a short lag, but would not say how long it was before police responded.
