It’s a different weekend of sorts for Minnesota’s women’s cross country team – the team will split off with one group going west and another going east.
The 11th-ranked Gophers will send 12 runners to Eau Claire, Wis., for the Blugold Open at 4 p.m. today.
The group competing in the 6-kilometer race will consist largely of lesser-known runners, such as team captain Lisa Remark, senior Natalie Timmers, juniors Heather Horton, Jena Trask and Stefanie Zeihen and sophomores Allison Joelson, Debbie Thompson and Shanna Bodilly.
Minnesota’s front-of-the-pack runners will travel to Brookings, S.D., for the South Dakota State University Invitational. The 12-team meet begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The eight Gopher runners competing in the 5-kilometer race include seniors Lauren Williams, Harper McConnell and Jen Hess along with junior Emily Brown and sophomore Ladia Albertson-Junkans.
Intrasquad at the Dome
Minnesota’s baseball team will play its annual fall intrasquad scrimmage Saturday at the Metrodome.
The game begins at 11 a.m. and will feature two teams of Gophers players playing against each other.
