Minnesota will be without an all-Big Ten catcher starting in the 2019 season.

Junior Kendyl Lindaman will be transferring from Minnesota after two seasons with the Gophers, the Star Tribune first reported. Lindaman is not listed on the roster for 2019 and her departure from the program was confirmed by a representative of Gopher Athletics.

Lindaman was the Big Ten softball player of the year in both 2017 and 2018. She was the Big Ten freshman of the year in 2017.

Her stats back up that recognition. The Ankeny, Iowa native hit 20 home runs in each of her two seasons, and she never hit below .400 in batting average in conference play. Lindaman was instrumental to the success of Minnesota’s Big Ten regular season championship in 2017 and Big Ten tournament victory in 2018.

The Gophers went 41-17 last season in the team’s first under head coach Jamie Trachsel. In Big Ten play, they had a 17-4 record.

Minnesota currently has one player listed as a catcher on the roster for 2019, Anne Miller, a sophomore from Bloomington, Minnesota.
