The Gophers men's track and field team fielded two events on day two of the NCAA outdoor championships, and the result mirrored the disappointment of the first day.
Junior Nick Hutton finished seventh in the preliminary heat of the 1,500-meter run and did not advance to the final. He was 15th overall with a time of three minutes, 43.16 seconds.
Minnesota's 4×400 relay also failed to advance to the final. Jacob Capek, Harun Abda, David Pachuta and Kevin Bradley clocked in at 3:06.95. They finished sixth in their heat and 17th overall, well behind the eight who qualified.
The women's only NCAA participants, the 4×100 relay, failed Wednesday to qualify for the finals.
On Friday, Micah Hegerle and Quentin Mege will compete in the hammer throw while Hassan Mead will race in the 5,000.
