The Gophers men’s track team will have one more chance to hone their skills before this weekend’s Drake Relays Wednesday at the Macalester Twilight Meet in St. Paul.
Coach Phil Lundin said most of the team will compete Wednesday evening in what will be a dress rehearsal for the final stretch of the outdoor season.
Lundin said most of the middle distance and distance runners will not compete Wednesday.
However, Lundin said the meet will give the athletes who rely most on power and mechanics, throwers, jumpers, sprinters and hurdlers, one more chance to tweak techniques en route to the Big Ten Championships.
“This time of year things can get pretty specific,” Lundin said. “So this is a great chance to work out in a competition setting.”
The Drake Relays begin Thursday in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Macalester Twilight Meet begins at 5:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium in St. Paul.
