Republicans not only out-seat Democrats in Washington ? they also out-tweet them, the Medill News Service reports.

In the Senate, Republican Sen. John McCain, Ariz., leads the pack with 1.73 million Twitter followers. Sen. Claire McCaskill, Mo., leads Democrats with 58,000 followers.

In the House of Representatives, Republicans send twice as many tweets as House Democrats. House Speaker John Boehner, Ohio, has the most followers with 366,000 followers between his two accounts. He is also the most prolific tweeter of any congressman, though he is not the most frequent (Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., holds that title). On the other side of the aisle, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Calif., leads with 83,000 followers.

Of all the days of the week, Wednesday sees the most tweets from Capitol Hill.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is the most “liked” House representative on Facebook.
