After leading the Gophers men’s basketball team to four-straight home wins, junior guard Blake Hoffarber was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.
In Minnesota’s 89-48 victory over Northern Illinois on Dec. 15, Hoffarber set a school record with eight 3-point field goals in 10 attempts, scored a career-high 26 points, made a career-high nine field goals and had a game-high six rebounds in just 22 minutes on the court.
Inserted into the starting lineup in all four games of the current homestand, Hoffarber has 19.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game as Minnesota has scored an average of 93 points in four consecutive wins. He has made an average of four 3-point field goals in each of the past five games after making eight total 3-pointers in the first six games of the season.
Hoffarber became the first Gopher to win the weekly award in nearly two years. Dan Coleman won it on Dec. 24, 2007.
