The Gophers stand at sixth out of 15 teams through the first day of the Alister Mackenzie Invitational.
Freshman Thomas Longbella finished the day with a score of 136 – six-under-par – to lead the team. Finishing close behind was junior Riley Johnson with a score of 137 – five-under-par – and junior Runar Arnorsson finished the day with a 138, four-under-par.
In the first round, Minnesota recorded an impressive 269, 15-under-par.
15-under-par is the Gophers best score in a round since 1998.
Arnorsson was the anchor for Minnesota’s superb round, scoring a 64, seven-under-par.
Minnesota will conclude the third round at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. Tuesday.
