After providing plenty of offense from the blue line, senior Ben Marshall was named the Big Ten’s third star of the week on Tuesday.
Marshall tallied a goal and two assists over the weekend when the Gophers split with Boston College and Northeastern. Marshall scored against the Eagles and helped out with both Gopher goals against Northeastern.
Marshall stepped up his own game after saying on Wednesday that everyone on the team needed to improve for the team to start playing better.
"Each individual player on this team needs to find a different level," Marshall said. "We need to fight better."
The Mahtomedi native is now second among defensemen on the team in points with six. On the season, Marshall has two goals and nine assists.
