The owner of the Viking Bar, located at 1829 Riverside Avenue S., was stabbed to death Sept. 17 by a patron who was asked to leave.
Scott Dennis Nelson, 44, tried to make the man leave the bar and the patron became angry, according to a press release from the Minneapolis Police Department. The man then pulled a knife on Nelson and stabbed him. The bar owner was dead when police arrived.
After the stabbing, the man and his companions fled. Having seen what happened, other patrons followed them. One of the companions was chased into a nearby house. Police arrived shortly after and took the man into custody. It was determined later that he was not the one who stabbed Nelson, but had been with him at the time, the press release stated.
Police have identified a suspect and are still searching for him.
