The Board of Regents will vote Friday on a resolution to decline President Eric Kaler’s preliminary recommendations to rename Coffman Union, Nicholson Hall, Middlebrook Hall and Coffey Hall.
The board will also take action on addressing the University’s history of segregation and surveillance through educational displays and other initiatives, according to the meeting docket.
“The Task Force reminds us that the education that comes from examining history is more important than whether the four names remain etched in stone,” the resolution says.
The board’s vote is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Student government leaders scheduled a set-in during the meeting to voice student concerns over the board’s position on building renaming.
