Blake Wheeler has to be feeling pretty good about his choice to turn pro after last year. The Boston Bruins are sitting atop the Northeast Division and are 9-1-0 in their last ten games.
Wheeler scored twice in the first five minutes of last night’s game with St. Louis – a game the Bruins ended up winning 6-3. The Gophers scoring champ last year made it 1-0 less than 2:30 into the game and extended the lead to 2-0 with the short-handed goal seen here:
Meanwhile, fellow-Bruin Phil Kessell tallied a pair of assists to extend his streak to 18 games. It’s actually hard to fathom how good the Gophers would be if both Kessell and Wheeler were both still here.
