For much of America, Thanksgiving is a time to indulge. But for police it is a time to patrol, even on campus. University police helped the State Patrol crack down on drunk driving over the holiday, which is one of the most dangerous times of the year to travel, due to drunk driving. There are a remarkably high number of accidental driving deaths over the Thanksgiving holiday, something police blame on reveling without a plan for driving home safely. State Patrol Lt. Mark Peterson said the amount of drunk driving over the holiday is a serious concern, especially in Hennepin County, which touts the highest number of accidental deaths every year.
