A 38-year-old man was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after he chased down another man in Southeast Como Thursday with a bicycle, a shovel and a grill.
Seneca Woods followed John Griffin, 47, down Como Avenue Southeast Thursday afternoon, picking up objects while weaving between moving cars, Como resident and University of Minnesota electrical engineering senior Jacob White said. White witnessed the encounter from his second floor apartment and called police.
“I didn’t know why he was chasing him until the man with the objects took off his shirt and revealed stab wounds,” White said. “I watched the larger man with the wounds hit the other man with the grill.”
Griffin received medical attention for his injuries at the scene and Woods was hospitalized, according to Minneapolis police.
Woods faces up to seven years in prison and $14,000 in fines if convicted on the charge.
