The Oak Street Parking Ramp will be closed beginning today through August 15.
Lori Ann Vicich, marketing manager for Parking and Transportation Services, said Wednesday marks the first in a series of phases that will close public parking for repairs to the ramp.
Because parking will be available only to those with contracts, they are opening alternate parking, she said.
Between 7:45 a.m. and 2 p.m., customers who leave within 24 hours qualify for an off-peak rate of $5. This discount lasts the length of the project.
Vicich said Parking and Transportation Services are encouraging parking in the Huron Boulevard Parking Complex because it costs $3.25 per day and does not usually fill to capacity.
