Friends and family members of a University student have planned a memorial service Saturday in his honor. Daniel “Terry” Cordes, a junior in the Institute of Technology, has been missing since Jan. 31.
That day, several people on campus reported seeing a person jump into the Mississippi River from the Washington Avenue Bridge.
Though police have not located a body, friends have said that it was probably Cordes who jumped from the bridge.
Apparently, Cordes had talked to friends about jumping from the bridge. Friends last saw him leaving a physics class minutes before the witnesses reported seeing someone jump from the bridge.
The memorial service for Cordes will start at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 1310 Main St. in Hopkins.
Cordes, 20, was majoring in math and physics. He was described as an enthusiastic, intelligent person.
“He was very intense,” said Mae Lynn Wolertz, a friend of Cordes. “He was also a perfectionist.”
Friends said that anyone is invited to the service and flowers are welcome.
