When life hands you avocados, they usually end up in guacamole. But little did you know, they can and should be used in other ways.
Avocados are versatile, and more and more people are substituting them into their everyday foods.
You can try it in a smoothie, eat one on top of toast or even make vegan mayonnaise out of it.
Avocados are full of nutrition: They are loaded with fiber, potassium and healthy fats and free of any cholesterol or sodium.
Eating avocados may aid in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
So next time you’re at the grocery store, don’t veer away from avocados — just keep away from boring, old guac recipes.
Chocolate avocado pudding
It’s vegan-friendly, too.
1 1/2 avocados (make sure they’re ripe)
1 banana
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup honey (or agave, if vegan)
1/4 cup almond milk
1. It’s really simple: Put all the ingredients into a food processor, and process it until smooth and creamy. Don’t have a food processor? Throw it into a bowl and mix it altogether until smooth and
creamy.
Avocado ice cream
It sounds and looks crazy, but it’s creamy and delicious.
2 avocados
1 can full-fat coconut milk
1/2 cup honey
Pinch of sea salt
1. After the avocados are pitted and spooned out of their shell, blend all the
ingredients together.
2. If you’re a novice college cook and have an ice cream maker, make sure to get rid of all of the air pockets in the mixture and use the ice cream maker as instructed.
3. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, don’t fret. Pour the mixture into a storage container, and let it freeze overnight.
