Two-time All-Big Ten pitcher Sara Moulton was drafted fifth overall by the Chicago Bandits in the National Professional Softball College Draft tonight. The decorated senior currently holds all-time program records in wins, shutouts and complete games and is second in strikeouts, just 11 short of the record.
Moulton said she was ecstatic about the outcome of the draft.
"It's an absolute honor to be given the opportunity to play pro softball this summer," she said via text message. "I couldn't be more excited."
The Bandits will begin their season the last week of May, just at the end of the NCAA season.
Moulton is 18-3 this season with 171 strikeouts and an earned run average of just 1.29.
