The University of Minnesota has a vacancy at athletic director.
The University announced Friday morning President Eric Kaler has accepted the resignation of Norwood Teague effective immediately.
Teague succeded Joel Maturi as Minnesota's athletic director on April 23, 2012. In over three years at the University, Teague hired a number of current University of Minnesota coaches including men's basketball head coach Richard Pitino, women's basketball head coach Marlene Stollings, women's soccer head coach Stefanie Golan, women's gymnastics head coach Jenny Hansen, and women's tennis head coach Chuck Merzbacher.
Teague was behind the University's current $150 million plan for new athletics facilities. Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill said at Big Ten Football media days last Friday ground on the new football building was scheduling to be broken in late September or early October at the latest.
The Minnesota Daily will have more on this story later.
