After beating unranked Iowa and No. 24 Northwestern last week, the Gophers moved up to No. 19 in the AVCA top-25 rankings–breaking the team’s consecutive-weeks-ranked record at 43 weeks. The previous record–42 weeks in the top-25–started on Oct. 20, 2003 and continued until Sept. 4, 2006.
The Big Ten is well-represented in the top-25 this week–Illinois (6), Penn State (9), Michigan (15), and Northwestern (24). Purdue, Ohio State, and Indiana also received votes.
Sitting at 7-5, the Gophers have an opportunity to pick up two big win this weekend when they head on the road to face Indiana and Purdue. Minnesota has notched wins over both of the teams earlier in the season and a weekend sweep would put the team one win shy of tournament eligibility.
