Candidates vying for the Ward 2 Councilmember seat on the Minneapolis City Council could be endorsed Saturday. At the Ward 2 Convention in Matthews Park, residents can gather to watch as parties endorse candidates for the November elections that will seat a councilmember in the ward that represents much of the University of Minnesota community. Incumbent Cam Gordon has few challengers for the seat after Charles Carlson, a University of Minnesota student, recently dropped out of the Ward 2 race following the revelation of a series of false claims he made to reporters and supporters. Amadin Allen Aigbogun, a Cedar-Riverside resident and alumnus of the University of Minnesota, is the only-known challenger to Gordon. The convention will take place at Matthews Park, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Check mndaily.com for more.
