A woman was sexually assaulted in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood early Wednesday morning after a man broke into her apartment at about 4 a.m., authorities said in a news release.
According to a release by the city of Minneapolis, the man sexually assaulted the woman in her apartment on the 700 block of 4th Street SE at around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning. The woman was able to get away and call the police but the man fled before Minneapolis Police Department officers arrived, the release said.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance for an exam, according to the release. MPD crime lab officials swept the scene for evidence, and a K-9 officer attempted to track the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 50s with reddish facial hair. MPD is currently investigating the incident and encouraging anyone with information to contact the MPD Tip Line at 612-692-8477.
