The University of Minnesota’s athletics department raised more than $89,000 in sales over Black Friday weekend, department spokesman Garry Bowman said.
That’s about an 80 percent increase from last year’s sales, which totaled about $50,000.
The four-day sale started Thanksgiving night and ran through Nov. 26.
This year’s totals didn’t include revenues from Minnesota’s Nov. 24 football game against Michigan State, Bowman said.
The sale included discounts on Gophers hockey games, basketball games and some merchandise.
Both the men’s hockey VIP package — four center-ice tickets, four club room passes and a parking pass — and discounted tickets for the men’s basketball games against Michigan State sold out by Monday.
Gophers men’s basketball also offered a “Golden Ticket” package for all nine Big Ten home games.
With the package, fans who attend a game the Gophers win can attend the next game for free. A ticket becomes invalid once the fan attends a game the Gophers lose.
