Gophers freshman Kelly Terry earned WCHA rookie of the week after helping the Gophers to a split with Bemidji State this past weekend. Terry notched one goal and three assists in the Gophers’ 6-2 win Saturday.
Terry’s goal capped a three-goal, one-minute, five-second scoring burst in the first period Saturday. After freshman Amanda Kessel gave the Gophers a 2-0 lead, Terry took the ensuing face-off and snuck a quick shot by BSU goalie Zuzana Tomickova, just five seconds after Kessel’s goal.
Terry and her fellow freshmen have given the Gophers’ offense a major lift this season. She leads the team in scoring with 19 points, while fellow freshmen Kessel (16 points) and Sarah Davis (15 points) are second and third in points.
The Gophers take on Ohio State this weekend at Ridder Arena in the team’s final series of 2010.
